Favorite feature of the venue?
The Historic Pool is such a unique space for weddings! There’s so much history in that room, dating back to when the building was built in 1888 and was used as an entertainment complex and casino. The “Historic Pool” no longer holds water, but it was once the world's largest indoor swimming pool.
What are your couples’ favorite features of the venue?
Couples love the different levels of the Lightner Museum. It’s very theatrical. You can host your ceremony inside the Historic Pool, then dinner is up on the second-floor mezzanine. This provides a really unique reception entrance, with all of the guests up on the second level, while the couple and the bridal party enters and does their first dance in the Pool.
Tell us a little about the venue? Is there a history or a cool story couples love to hear?
The Lightner Museum was once the grand Hotel Alcazar, built by railroad tycoon Henry Flagler in 1888. It was an entertainment complex and hotel for travelers in the early days of Florida tourism. Later the museum was purchased by Otto Lightner to house his eclectic collection of curiosities.
What are the venue spaces?
The Historic Pool at the Lightner Museum is the main attraction for weddings and events. There are actually three levels to this venue space: the first floor is where the pool once was, the second-floor mezzanine, and the third-floor museum gallery. The height of the room makes for some incredible photos. Couples often choose to host cocktail hour in the Grand Lobby. This is a beautiful intimate space with mosaic tile floors, and large arched windows looking out onto the beautiful museum courtyards, which guests also have access to during cocktail hour! On the south side of the museum is the newly renovated Outdoor Terrace! Our couples love this extra outdoor space, especially for higher guest counts. There is an upper and lower level that could be used for wedding ceremonies, cocktails, gorgeous photos, or grand exits!
What’s included in your packages?
We have two different package options: the Custom Package and the Intimate Wedding Package. The custom package allows couples to customize all of their vendors and wedding details, while the Intimate package includes many vendors and additional amenities at discounted rates!
Are there any photo restrictions at the venue?
A city permit is required to take photos in the courtyards and loggia of the Lightner Museum. This permit is included in the event rental.
