Out of ideas for Date Night? 15 ideas you can use this week!
I am guessing you have been working hard to keep the fire alive and keep up with everything else you have going on in life! When all of that is happening, it is easier to put fun and romanticism into the back burner and forget to cultivate your love.
Let’s work on keeping that passion flame alive! Here is some ideas you can implement on your next few dates!
1. Have an upscale picnic
Location is key, so scout out a great spot at a local park. Then go all out with some wine (if they allow booze), cheese, sliced meats, French bread. Spread out a blanket on the ground or at a table, relax, and enjoy being in each other’s company!
2. Movies from your childhood night
Find some movies that had a big impact on both your childhoods, pop some popcorn, and enjoy your trip down memory lane. It will be a great way to connect on some common ground, and you might be surprised at all the things you don’t remember about your favorite childhood movies.
3. Cook a new recipe together
Find a recipe for something neither of you has ever made and make it. It’s easy to chat while cooking and you get a dinner out of it as well. You can even make shopping for ingredients part of the date. A bottle of wine or beers helps the cooking process stay fun.
4. Try to make convoluted cocktails
This always a lot of fun. You can either try to make some crazy cocktails/shots that have recipes, or you can try to make an original cocktail. This one can be expensive if you go all out, but if you find the right recipe, it doesn’t have to be too crazy expensive.
5. Shake It Like a Polaroid Picture
Ok, I have to admit, this is my favorite one!! Get a polaroid camera and take it with you for a full day. Push yourself to use the full roll.
6. Low Maintenance Time Capsule
Write letters to yourselves one year in the future and figure out a public place you can hide them like a library, museum or park. Consider making them extra intriguing just in case someone finds them.
7. Enjoy the Sunset on River Road
Watch as the sky shifts from bright yellows and oranges to deep pinks, purples and blues all while holding bae’s hand. Here is what some of the Jax natives have to say: “My boyfriend Justin and I always used to go down to River Road just over the Orange Park line to sit, watch the river and the sunset and take it all in”
8. Explored downtown Atlantic Beach
Gear up for a bar hop like no other at the Atlantic Beach town center. Start by shooting some pool at the historic Pete’s Bar, and then move your way up the food chain by visiting Flying Iguana, a Mexican hot spot, and Ragtime, a hopping scene where you’ll hear live jazzy tunes.
9. Go for a trail walk in Tillie K. Fowler Park
Getting in touch with nature while climbing over vines and avoiding large branches will bring you and your significant other closer in no time. Just under a mile into the park, there’s a three-story high look out!
10. Visit Moca or Cummer Museum and Gardens
Stroll through the hallways lined with fine art at Jacksonville’s Museum of Contemporary art in downtown or the Cummer Museum and Gardens, a short drive away in the Avondale area. After staring pensively at the beautiful exhibitions for an hour or so take a break with a trip to MOCA’s Café Nola for a light lunch. At the Cummer, venture outside to take artsy pictures of the bright and blooming flowers and statues on display in their gardens. Museum dates have the magic touch when it comes to sparking conversation.
11. Beaches Rock Gym
Get your hearts pumping with a super-date at Beaches Rock Gym in Atlantic Beach. The gym has bouldering style rock walls which uses no ropes or harnesses. They provide a safety orientation for new climbers as well as those wanting a refresher. Challenge your partner as you work to solve the problems marked out on the course. First one to the top gets ice cream!
12. Beach Bowl
My husband and I made a trip there. We played best of 3, all with our non-dominant had!! We had so much fun!! A staple in the beach community for over fifty years, Beach Bowl should definitely be on your date list. With open bowling offered nightly, a full service lounge with nightly drink specials, and a room full of arcade games, you both can enjoy hours of fun. Join Beach Bowl Thursday through Saturday for their Cosmic Bowling.
13. Painting with A Twist
Sip, snack, and paint your way into each other’s hearts at Painting with a Twist in Ponte Vedra. This paint-your-own art studio is geared toward adults-so leave the kids home and bring the good wine. To sign up for one of their upcoming classes, simply pick the art you want to paint from one of the many options provided and fill out the form. Food is not provided and guests are strongly urged to bring their own sips and snacks.
14. Go Paintballing
So, this one might be a bit intense if they’ve never been paintballing. If you have never tried it, go for it. It’s a blast. Just make sure you are okay with a little bit of stinging pain. Be on the same team though, no need to make your date mad by peppering them with paintballs.
15. Go ice skating
This is another one of my favorites!! If your town has an indoor rink or if it is winter and there is a frozen pond, this is a great date idea. Once again, it helps if you are both terrible or both pretty good. But if you are good and your date isn’t, you could always try teaching them how to skate.
I hope this helps keep the spark going until, and after the wedding!!!
